Filing your income tax return should not mean stress, guesswork, or a last-minute scramble in January. ABM Chartered Accountants prepares and files your self assessment accurately, claims every relief you are entitled to, and makes sure your return reaches HMRC on time.
Your Tax Return Prepared, Reviewed, and Filed
An income tax return reports all your taxable income to HMRC for the year, including employment, self-employment, rental, dividends, savings interest, capital gains, and any other sources. It also claims the reliefs and allowances that reduce your tax bill. ABM Chartered Accountants prepares your return from your records, reviews it for accuracy, and files it on time.
Our ICAEW and ACCA qualified accountants handle every type of income tax return, from straightforward employment returns to complex multi-source filings. We calculate your liability, check your tax code is correct, claim pension relief, gift aid, and work expenses, and deal with HMRC on your behalf.
What Our Income Tax Return Service Covers
From self assessment filing to HMRC correspondence, here is how ABM Chartered Accountants makes sure your income tax return is accurate, complete, and submitted on time.

Preparing and filing your self assessment tax return accurately and submitting it before deadline.
Employment Income Reporting
Reporting income from employment alongside any benefits in kind, share schemes, or expenses claims.
Rental Income Returns

Dividend & Investment Income

Tax Relief Claims
Claiming pension relief, gift aid, work expenses, and other reliefs that reduce your tax bill.
HMRC Correspondence

File Right, File On Time, Pay Less
A late self assessment return triggers an automatic 100 pound penalty, with further penalties and interest accumulating the longer it remains outstanding. An inaccurate return can lead to an HMRC enquiry, additional tax, and further penalties. ABM Chartered Accountants eliminates both risks by filing your return accurately and well within the 31 January deadline.
Many taxpayers also miss legitimate reliefs because they do not know they can claim them. Pension contributions, charitable donations, professional subscriptions, working from home relief, and marriage allowance transfers can all reduce your bill. We check every available relief so you never pay more income tax than you should.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to the income tax return questions we hear most often. Contact our team for guidance.
Do I need to file a self assessment tax return?
You need to file a self assessment return if you are self-employed with income above 1,000 pounds, earn over 150,000 pounds, have untaxed income such as rental or investment income, are a company director, or have been asked by HMRC to file.
When is the deadline for filing?
The deadline for filing an online self assessment return is 31 January following the end of the tax year. For the 2025/26 tax year, the filing deadline is 31 January 2027. Paper returns have an earlier deadline of 31 October. ABM Chartered Accountants files well before the deadline.
What information do you need from me?
We need your P60 or payslips, P11D if applicable, details of any rental income and expenses, bank interest statements, dividend vouchers, pension contribution records, and any other income or relief documentation. ABM Chartered Accountants provides a checklist to make collection simple.
Can you help with rental income?
Yes. We calculate your rental profits by deducting allowable expenses from your rental income. Allowable costs include mortgage interest at the basic rate, repairs, insurance, letting agent fees, and other running costs. ABM Chartered Accountants reports your property income correctly on your return.
What happens if my return is late?
A late return triggers an automatic 100 pound penalty even if you owe no tax. After three months, daily penalties of 10 pounds begin. After six months, a further penalty of five percent of the tax due is charged. Filing early with ABM Chartered Accountants avoids all of this.
How much does it cost to file my return?
Fees depend on the complexity of your tax affairs and the number of income sources involved. A straightforward employment return costs less than a return with rental, investment, and self-employment income. We offer fixed-fee pricing. Contact ABM Chartered Accountants for a quote.
