About MTD Training

Practical Training on Your Own System

Our training for business owners and staff is delivered live, on your configured software, using your real transactions. Sessions cover raising invoices, capturing receipts, coding bank transactions, reconciling accounts, handling VAT correctly, reviewing a quarterly update before approval and spotting the common errors that lead to HMRC queries. Each attendee leaves able to complete their part of the monthly routine unaided.

You receive written procedures and a checklist for new starters, plus refresher sessions before your first quarterly updates so that problems are caught early and corrected.

MTD Training FAQs

Answers to common questions about training business owners and staff to keep Making Tax Digital compliant records.

How long does MTD training take?

Most owners and administrators need two to three sessions of around ninety minutes each, covering daily tasks, month-end routine and quarterly update review. Larger teams may need role-specific sessions.

Both. We train at our Canary Wharf office or by screen share, which works well for clients across the UK and allows sessions to be recorded for later reference.

Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and FreeAgent, plus capture tools such as Dext and Hubdoc. Training is always delivered on the version and configuration your business actually uses day to day.

Yes. Onboarding sessions for new starters are available at any time, and the written procedures we provide let them get up to speed between sessions without disrupting your team.

For most clients, yes, but less of one. Trained owners keep their own records while ABM reviews before each submission, applies year-end adjustments and handles HMRC contact.

Refresher and error-review sessions are included before your first quarterly updates. We look at what went wrong, correct it and adjust the procedures so it does not recur.
